(1) Installation of USB-BlueTooth modules for PC ------------------------------------------------ 1.1 Make sure to de-install any previously existing BlueTooth software from the PC. This is IMPORTANT! 1.2 Install the complete software from the supplied CD-ROM, but do NOT plug in the USB module. 1.3 After software installation is finished, plug in the USB module. (2) Installation of Serial-BlueTooth modules for EyeBot ------------------------------------------------------- 2.1 Before connecting the serial module to the EyeBot, it needs to be configured using a PC (see attached documentation). 2.2 Plug the serial module in the serial port of a PC and use the supplied USB cable to deliver power to the serial module. 2.3 Run Hyperterminal on the PC (standard under Windows) on the COM port you plugged in the serial module (e.g. COM1) and at speed 9600 Baud. 2.4 Press the reset button on the serial module for a few seconds until the LED is blinking, then press "return" in Hyperterminal on the PC - the settings menu should now be displayed on the PC screen. 2.5 Set each serial module to a unique name, e.g. EyeNet1, ... 2.6 Set the mode of each module to "WAIT". 2.7 Set the speed of each module to 115200 Baud. 2.8 Save the configuration with "X" and wait for the serial module to reset itself. 2.9 Then disconnect the serial module from the PC completely (serial line and USB power) and connect the module to the EyeBot (via adapter with separate power pin on EyeBot M4, or directly on EyeBot M5 - power settings are here selected by a 2-pin header next to the serial connector). (3) Establishing Communication ------------------------------ 3.1 Make sure a valid radio key has been entered into the EyeBot, by pressing / Reg . Radio keys are supplied by the distributor, and entering is only required once. 3.2 Switch the EyeBot with the serial module on. 3.3 On the PC, right-click on the BlueTooth symbol and establish a link to the desired serial BlueTooth module. This step differ, depending on the manufacturer of the USB-module, so check the individual documentation. * For simple USB modules supporting 1:1 connections: Select "quick-connect / serial connection" then click on the name of the desired remote serial module. Note the serial link number assigned by Windows! * For a multi-link USB module supporting 1:n connections: Start the BlueSoleil program, double-click the sun to see all available modules, then double-click on each desired remote serial module and the cable symbol to link it. A dotted line between sun and module will appear. Note the serial link numbers assigned by Windows! 3.4 On the PC, start the EyeBot communication program "RemoteBT" and click on the COM port (or multiple ports) that have been linked previously. 3.5 On the EyeBot, switch communication on: Hrd / Set / Rmt Select "On", 115200 Baud, and the corresponding serial port. 3.6 EyeBot symbols will now appear on the RemoteBT application on the PC. Click on these symbols to open or close EyeBot consoles.
